Unknown:

Today is a super special episode because the podcast is one year all just like when your baby turns one, like, through even being pregnant and giving birth, we've been able to be consistent for a whole year, people thought I was crazy doing five episodes a week, I think they probably still think I'm crazy. But I wanted to be different. And I love putting free content out there. And this is just like a really easy way to keep it organized, that you don't have to like shuffles through a bunch of like social media posts, you can go right to the podcast, search for what you need, or like, do something more I call it like podcast roulette where you like swipe, like you scroll and like, see what you land on. I love doing that. If you haven't done it, I highly recommend because it's always like what you need. But today's sponsor is the wealthy Queen movement, because this team, like I wouldn't be able to keep up with this if we didn't have the team on the back end. So I want to give a special shout out to somebody Her name is M Thomas, she's actually sitting right next to me and I can show you. Okay, I wanted your consent first. So M is like the brains behind the podcast. Anytime we have a guest. She's the one putting graphics together, putting the show notes in there. And putting it on our podcasting platform. She never skipped a beat. And it's it's huge. So I love you, thank you for everything that you do. But with that being said, I wanted to like do a fun celebration year, I am on the quest to find our biggest podcast listener meaning you are like always listening, you've already given us a five star review, you talk about it with your friends. So if that is you, please, please please DM me on Instagram or Facebook. And just let me know that you think that you're our biggest listener, because I want to give some like awards out to those people. So if you think that's you doesn't mean that you've listened to every single episode because that would be like madness. We're over? Are we over 300 279. So close to 300 episodes, which is like, literally Oh, okay, so we're at 11,742 downloads since last year, which is just amazing. I can't wait to keep seeing that girl. But I have one person that I think is our biggest listener, but I want to I want to give everyone else the opportunity. But she has been listening in her car. She says she looks forward to getting in her car and listening to our show. Like it just like warms my heart. She's She started back at the beginning of the first episode, so a year ago, and she's now in July of 2022. That's so sweet. She's like, I'm listening to every single episode. And I'm just like, you know, you don't always like if you're not in a place to invest in coaching or mentoring or courses like podcasts are amazing, because the wealth of knowledge that is on podcasts, specifically ours for today. Like there's literally 1000s and 1000s of dollars of advice on pot on our podcast, some of which, like, we're old pieces of like courses that I actually repurposed on there. So there's just like so much goodness. So if you feel like you're our biggest listener, please DM me, let me know that you think that it's you. I want to give some appreciation and some awards out and all the things. So we're gonna do a fun q&a today. If you're watching on Facebook Live, and you have a question, and you're actually like, live with me, feel free to ask a question. But we have a few that we've put together that I think are just like really powerful and helpful and cover like a wide range of topics. So the first is like, how do they actually get started? Well, that could probably be like a five hour episode. So I'm gonna give you the SparkNotes version. Because if you've if you're newer to this journey, it can look different than if you've been on the journey with me for the long haul. So I'm gonna keep it as high level as possible. So my first about 10 years of my career, we're in the nonprofit space. I started in nonprofit when I was 16 years old, built a nonprofit from the ground up. And it's so crazy because it still exists to this day. 17 years later, I was actually there today, and I just have so much pride. We support pediatric cancer families, but the reason why I'm not in the day to day as much is because of exactly what I'm doing now. I started to as I was at NC 4k, I started to work on myself. It first started with health and fitness. There was so much self confidence that was not truly there like authentic self confidence. And so when I was graduating college the organization was taking off a I was working a lot of hours not putting myself first all of the things. And so I really took a step back of like, I've got to put myself first. And so I started focusing on health and fitness. And what was so crazy to me is like, my confidence, my inner true authentic confidence skyrocketed, and I didn't lose like a massive amount of weight in the beginning, but like each pound, I felt my confidence grow and grow and grow. And I actually felt like, like, you know, the brain clarity to like, be able to think the confidence to walk into big boardrooms and ask for big amounts of money. Just that one shift really, like altered everything for me. And so as I like, worked on my health and fitness, then I started getting introduced to this world called personal development. And I became obsessed, I started getting books on audio. I honestly this is actually going to date me they weren't audible was not a thing yet. I feel old audible. And I think I bought CDs that you put into your car, and you listen to them. And they were like personal development, I would just listen to them on repeat, like they and you had to buy them get them sent in the mail. So we've come a long way in technology. But I did that. Soon as audible was a thing that I obviously did audible, but I started buying courses, going to conferences. And then I went through a personal development conference here in Columbus, Ohio. That's like multiple levels. And it was just mind blowing. To me, it was all about personal development. But most importantly, like emotional intelligence, and really thinking bigger, like dreaming bigger, thinking bigger, a lot of what we've talked about on the podcast this week, and I just started to see a bigger life for myself outside of the organization, I truly thought I was going to be at the organization, like in the role that I was as a Executive Director till the day I died. Like, I never allowed myself to dream bigger. And I also was worried that if if I weren't in the driver's seat, then we wouldn't be able to help pediatric cancer families. And there was a lot of guilt around that of like, these families, I can't especially now being a mom, I can't imagine everything they go through. And I want to do everything I can to help. And so walking away felt so selfish, and not a good selfish and so there was so much that I had worked through with that, that that program really helped me realize that like, oh, no, like, it can be a win win. Like I can go explore other things and maximize my time and my talents and other ways in the organization can still exist. There is another way, right? And so I just started to play with that idea of like, okay, like, what would I do? So as I was still at the organization, I started doing health and fitness coaching because people kept asking me like, how are you losing so much weight and so I just, like supported them and like was their accountability partner, which I truly enjoyed so much. And then people were asking me like, can I work with you one on one for like life coaching? And I was like, yeah, that seems weird. And they're like, What would you charge? I'm like, I don't know. $25 an hour and they're like, Sure. So and then I started doing retreats, and I would rent cabins in hocking Hills, which is like a beautiful, like wooded area, close to Columbus, Ohio. And I would sell out these retreats. And then I just kept evolving and growing. And then we did T shirts and that that went pretty well. And then I started like having people saying like you're always talking about making money like business and so then it like organically started to evolve into more like business support and just becoming obsessed with that side of the world. So personal development, life coaching then like more like business, how do we actually make the money that we desire as women and still live a full abundant funfilled life. So this brand in this beautiful vision has literally grown more than I can ever imagine. And it was very, very unclear in the beginning like it wasn't like seven or eight years ago, you're gonna have a business called the wealthy Queen movement and it's going to help you know you're gonna have courses and a year long program and you're gonna take people to Disney like that was not even on my radar right? And so I just love sharing that like, and I'm gonna share more on our masterclass on Friday of like, how did I actually do it like between having two kids and a global pandemic? I broke my tailbone in that process. I learned that it was ADHD we had some family challenges. So how did I actually grow and scale a company to over $1 million in lifetime cash and more than that, I need to check the exact number but I Um, I just think it's important because like, as women, especially mothers, just this looks different, right? Like, I don't have a ton of hours, right? Even if I wanted them, I don't have them. I'm constantly getting interrupted, right? Like, there's so many demands on our time as mothers. And so that masterclass, we're gonna go into way more detail on Friday at 1pm. Eastern Standard Time, don't miss it. I'm super excited about it. But that's just like, in a nutshell, how I started, how I evolved. There's so many deleted scenes. In there, we're actually working on creating a docu series called Making of the movement, because I want to document where we're at right now and where we're heading in real time. So stick around for that, because that'll be a video Docu series of just like, all the deleted scenes, Washington, say all of them a lot of the deleted scenes, giving you like an inside scoop of like what's going on in real time, it's going to be a whole YouTube channel, there'll be deleted scenes, there'll be like actual produced episodes, kind of like Netflix, we're gonna be we're gonna pretend like we're Netflix level. But I wanted to like talk about like some of my best investments over the few years because it takes money to make money. And I remember years ago, how I was terrified to invest any amount of money, like terrified, I would still go forth and do it. But now there's just such like a neutral energy that like is so empowering, because I truly have created an ATM. Like truly, and not just one but multiple ATMs. So what do I mean by that? Anytime I want to access more money, I have wealth vehicles, that when I put in numbers, aka put in actions, when I put in the numbers to my ATM, money comes out every time, every time. And that is valuable. And so cool. Like literally in a ATM that I have with another business partner, we sent out an email yesterday was it yesterday, it was either yesterday or two days ago, of a program that we have kicking off last call, three people signed up. Because that was an ATM activity, right? Like put in the number book, okay, people want in, and that takes time to build that equity of your ATM, but like literally getting the actual machine, right, which is your business, and then making it stronger, better, faster, is really what I want to help you do. Moving forward, so some of my best investments. So when I legitimately stopped pretending to have coaches and actually had a coach, I'm gonna explain what that means here in a second was life changing, life changing, and it was the worst time to do it. It was when the world was literally shutting down, and I had zero childcare. But yet it felt like the best time because if I could master everything, then then it's only going to get easier, right? It's either harder in the beginning and easier for the long haul, or you're just kind of coasting and trying to feel like it's making it easier, but then it's harder on the back end. I would much rather it'd be harder in the beginning, right? Where you're really trying to figure things out, it feels a little tight, it feels a little, you know, overwhelming, stressful, like it's gonna happen. I'm not gonna even try to pretend you can be the most like, neutral, balanced person, but like business is truly like having a baby. And if you have a baby, the newborn phase, all the way up to the year old phase is like, exhausting. Like, then there comes the toddler phase, right? Like so your business is so much like an actual child that we forget that. So it's like there's going to be sleepless nights, there's going to be days that you question, can you do this? Can you not do this? But guess what? When it's your baby, you never think about leaving? Well, most people, the people that are like actually good humans that you don't think about leaving, you never leave. You keep fighting for your baby, you keep doing better being better. And eventually, you had those little glimmers of like moments where they're like, Mommy, I love you and your heart melts and you're like, they know how to like pull you back in. So when I first finally said I'm going to invest in a coach and I actually did it, we worked together for two years before that. I like I like to call it dabbling and coaches like I would do a trade with somebody that would give me a coaching call, right? I would read books and that's that's like, that's self study. That's not a coach, right? That is learning that is personal growth, professional growth. But if not a coach, like imagine going through grade school without a teacher in the classroom, it would be a shit show. Right? A coach is truly meant to be that guy that teacher that mentor for you to actually help you get to where you want to go faster. And I remember the day that I signed the contract that I had my first one on one coaching call with him. It was invaluable. He has so many networks, so much knowledge, he's going to things that I don't have access to yet. So to like, get an hour call with him every single week for two years. Was it a financial stretch? Yes. Was it absolutely worth it? Yes. Did I make it happen? Every payment? Yes. Right. It's building the belief and asking the right questions and putting in the work that made it worth it. Right, like so it wasn't just a one sided thing. A coach relationship is a two sided relationship just like any other relationship, right? It's a given a take a given a take. And it was just insanely valuable. So that's one of my biggest investments, obviously, myself. So I've paid myself through this time. I didn't pay myself in the beginning, and I regret it, even a small amount can energetically just do so much for you. So that's been huge. Having bookkeeping support has been massive, because it's a lot, right. Like, it's so tedious, you want to make sure that you're doing it, right. So that's been invaluable. My team has been invaluable, because I love the saying, like, hire your weaknesses. So I am terrible at graphic design. Like we actually did a contest a while ago, like Emily M, make a graphic and I make a graphic and mine was okay, I shouldn't say it's like, tear, I'm not terrible. But it's not to the level that I desire for our brand to be. And it also takes me so long. So having that having operations support, right, like, wherever I either don't have the time, or it's not the best use of my time, or I'm not the best at it. It's really like taking your ego away and like just hiring people to help you, right. And so that's been really, really huge. And then one of my most recent investments is an actual money coach, which can sound odd to some people like, Well, why are you hiring a money coach, because I'm in this work every single day, I want to get other perspectives. And so we're, we're meeting every single week, we're doing Profit First, if you know anything about profit, first, we have a whole spreadsheet I get to try not even I get to, I have to track my income every single day, y'all. And then we have a call every single week to do the Profit First percentages, move all the money around, talk about the money, all the energy, it's like truly having a CFO, and this has been something that I've wanted for a really long time. And it's been, we're just now getting started. And I'm like, I can't wait to see where we are a year from now. Like it's gonna be magical. And I told her she's kind of stuck with me because I don't see me leaving. Like, I like to be in long term relationships with people like not just like a, like an intimate relationship. Like, if you've been with us for like, what, three years? I'm trying to think of October 2020 as well. Okay, so almost three years. Sarah, our other team member and Brittany also are coming up on their anniversaries, which I was also thinking about, like, instead of trying to like celebrate all of your guys's individual anniversaries and like, let's just do a combined in November. together and I could like so I was literally just thinking of that. Christie has been involved as more like a consultant level. And we've hired a few other people throughout the journey. But like, it makes it nice because you never feel alone. Like I never feel alone. I can always go to people of like, Hey, I'm struggling with this. And I want some support. Right? So people overall, like I didn't even name everyone, but people in general have been the best investment. And then equally, we just got this cute little bougie office space not too long ago. And I had to like really work through the money mindset of like, oh my gosh, Nellie, like is this just an impulse decision, you've had other office spaces, and it didn't feel good once you got into it, and then you were in it. And then you had to do a buyout policy, all the things. But when I had Boone staying home actually, like felt so alone, I felt so alone. And so we started going to a co working space here in town. And we were going a lot and it just felt so good. And then as we were like strolling through like literally strolling with a stroller through I saw this space and it like I instantly like lit up. And so I just asked like what the pricing would be like what the contract is. And the nice part about this that I haven't had in the past is it's literally you don't pay anything above your flat fee. You don't have to pay utilities you don't have to pay. for trash, you don't have to pay for Wi Fi. It's just one flat fee. And that felt so good for like ease flow and fun. Because it's just one flat fee, they take it out every single month, I don't have to like drop off a check. Remember how we always had to drop off the check, pay the utilities, all the things, it felt heavy, not even just from a financial standpoint, but it felt heavy, because all like the ins and outs of like what we had to do, and like shovel snow and like just so many things. So this felt good. And so when I make big decisions, big investments, what helps me is a few different things, is giving myself time to really think through the decision before I say yes or no, I don't want it to one be an impulsive decision that I regret later. To, I don't want to say no out of fear, right? And so giving myself time and space to just like, feel out, like think through run the numbers, right? There's always a way when you really really desire something you don't always say yes, immediately. But if you really, really want something we are like so resourceful as women, we'll find the way we'll figure it out. And so that's exactly what I did with this. What I always do, but like with this specifically, I was like I really want it like literally for two weeks. I could it was never I don't want it. It was always I wanted I wanted I wanted, it felt so good, because I'm really creating balance in my life. And so getting this space all set up, which I'll give you a tour another day because it's not set up yet. Does not it's it's not there yet. But I kept saying I want it. I want it, I want it. And so then I started running the numbers, I could have said yes, the day I wanted it. But I like to like get my brain on board of like, how can I make it worth it from a financial aspect. So I what I did to get my brain on board is like, Okay, if I sign on one one on one client, then like that more than pays for itself gives me a space to work, leave work at work, and go home and be mom and wife and have like separate church and state. And that to me was worth every single penny Boone will be going to childcare soon and was going to summer camp. So this has been like the ramp up period, there was somebody else interested in the space. And I was like, ah, like, it's mine. You can't take it, it's mine. And they don't have extra space. Like it's very rare that they have an empty space. Like truly. And so I got to one on one clients. So I was like, Oh my gosh, now I'm already profitable, right? Like I was going to be profitable with one person. But now I'm profitable with two. And just the ideas that are going to be created in here, the energy has just felt amazing. Like, I'll be able to leave my work phone here, I'll be able to leave my computer here like I'm going to have some really strict and solid boundaries, not because I have to, but I want to like I need that separation like at home right now. If I need to turn off, I have to hide my phone. If I see it out, I will grab it. Like we're just trained, right, we are so trained Emma's the same way. If she sees her, like her tablet, she's like, ooh, tablet, if she doesn't see it, then she figures out, like how to entertain herself with some like toys or coloring. Right. So like, it's just the world that we live in. And we can either lean in or lean out, but let's make it work for us. So those are just some of my best investments, but always getting my brain onboard. And anytime like investments feel scary. It's a couple of different things. Either you're so afraid of what could go wrong, right? Or equally, maybe we're jumping too far. Meaning like, I don't think twice about $100 investment now, right? Or a $500 investment. It doesn't feel scary anymore. Now, when I was home with Emma and was my business was tiny. And I had no team who did that feel like a lot. Right? So your your money mindset will grow as you grow and as your business grows, right? So feel into like, what level of an investment whether it's a one time investment or like a monthly expense or weekly expense, like what doesn't feel scary, and then let's go 10% above that, because we do want to stretch and we do want to grow. So what doesn't feel scary. Let's go 10% more, if that feels too scary, where you're gonna like have a panic attack, then let's go to like 1% or 5% Like, you can pick the number but we do want to stretch we do want to grow, but maybe you're going too far. Like if someone if if I found something that was like $100,000 investment right now. Could I find the way if I really wanted it? Yes. Would it be an absolute stretch? Yes, in this moment? Yes. Right or even like a$50,000 investment now is that's broken down into payment plans, or I have a little bit of a ramp up period to like combine the cash access The Capitol, right? Like we're resourceful, but like, we want to, like play with some numbers, because you're on your own journey, right? Like, every successful person that you see has that next number that they're stretching for. And they've just more than likely done this a little bit longer, that they've been consistently doing it, right. So like, figure out where you're at. And then we can keep stretching and growing, stretching and growing, but also not like, rocking your nervous system to the point where you can't function. We don't want that, right. We do not want that. Okay, so those are some of my best investments, honestly, like any course, any conference, anything to like, make me feel amazing. So like clothes, massages, health and fitness related, like, I'm all about it, like any experiences, like I could go on and on. I like to spend money. I'm, I'm a very, I'm an expert at spending money. So I wanted to talk about like mindset tips. So because mindset is truly the biggest thing, people don't feel like it's sexy, but it helps you get to the sexy stuff. And it feel actually good. And mindset is just like literally like a fancy word for like, growing you right, like so there's so much that you can do see if he cooperates here. So there's so much that you can do from a mindset perspective. But like think back to version one of Nelly, right, she started with her health and fitness, that is mindset, right, I had to get my mind onboard that I could lose weight, that I was worthy to lose weight and actually do it. Right. So my mindset was a little bit more from a health and fitness perspective. And then it rippled into other things right? Then I felt the confidence to buy audio CDs, right? go to conferences, buy courses. So mindset, to me is what activities are you doing to get you to where you want to go, that are actually in your brain, right? Like no one can ever take your knowledge away from you, like everything that you've done up to this point to pour into your brain. No one can ever take that away from you every, like skill that you have all the expertise that you have all the like, emotional intelligence that you've been creating all the leadership skills, like, to me mindset is so dynamic, it's so diverse, and it can mean so much. And so it's just choosing right now, from a mindset perspective, what feels like it's holding you back the most we talked about this on the episode yesterday of like, the belief, right? And so really just deciding, like, what area of your life do you not feel confident in, there could be so much that you could do in that one category. So whether it is finances, it is relationships, it is, you know, your personal appearance, or it is your actual like overall business you don't feel like confident in or anything like just think about what feels heavy to you doesn't feel easy to you. There's some mindset work to do around that and some actions that you can take. And so I love when people are like, What books should I read next? I'm like, Well, what are you like, what, what are your goals, like, what category does not come easy to you. That's where we get to lean in, it's so easy to keep going back to things that you're already good at which fantastic, let's get better. But that means we're neglecting a whole other side of you that like when we actually pay attention to it, right? Like where attention goes, energy flows. So if you don't feel confident in your finances, but we're not making that a priority to work on, it's going to keep holding you back, it's going to keep getting in the way, right? So mindset to me is truly like what do we get to work on with you to get you to where you want to go. So it could be trauma healing, it could be a certain category that we're working on. It's so dynamic, so diverse, which I think equally makes it challenging for people. But just ask yourself that one question. It gives us a starting point. And then we can literally keep growing and evolving. But I have some big goals over the next few years and so investing in the money coach was huge for me because I don't want to feel stressed doing these big goals that are on my my my plan. So getting really feeling really really good, really safe with money. Like I have no problem selling right like that is easy to me, but it's feeling safe didn't come from money, and it still feels very unsafe to hold money, meaning like seeing it grow, right like I've come a long way but there's still so much I want to work through. And so that was a category, which brings me to my next point, don't do this shit alone. Please don't do it alone like guess get started with a book or like something to get you off the ground but like the more you enroll actual people to support you that are experts in different categories that you do not feel an expert in can be the most valuable thing to just fast track this. It's kind of like the fast pass at Disney. Like you can either wait in the line and like, not get on the ride for hours or you can buy the Fast Pass and get on really fast and equally. I love the fast passes that tell you what time to come back. So it's like cool, I'm gonna go get a snack, and then come back. So those are just some of my mindset tips for you. And then it wouldn't be an episode if I didn't talk about sales tips because that's my favorite S word. Well, one of my favorites. So sales. We have overcomplicated especially as women, right. So when I hear like the word or the phrase, I don't want to be salesy, then don't be salesy, right. So how we can make this easier for you is what are you actually passionate about selling. And let's go talk about it. I know that sounds blatantly like so simple. But I guarantee you, if you decided on one thing that you are super passionate about, right, and whether it's I'm so passionate about health and fitness, or I'm so passionate about money, or I'm so passionate about, like doing marketing for people or I'm so passionate in a certain product, or a program that you already have or an idea that you have, it doesn't have to be even anything that you've created, but your passion will literally move mountains, because people most people, sadly, are not living a passion filled life. And so when you are living a passion filled life, it is the most attractive thing to everyone else. They're like, What is she doing? She's so happy. She's She's so joyful. She's, you know, this, that the other they can feel it, you don't even have to say that you're passionate people can feel it right like, and passion is truly what keeps you going when the when the evidence isn't there yet. So if you find yourself keep hopping from business to business, or offer to offer a guarantee, we are not passionate about whatever you've been selling. Because when you are you stick with it, and it doesn't mean that we aren't like tweaking and modifying it. We're absolutely doing that. But like I feel so passionate about talking about anything sales related, marketing related, mindset related business related, how would I be able to do a five day podcast if I wasn't passionate about it? It would be like pulling teeth. And it doesn't, it feels so easy and fun. Has there been challenges for sure. But I keep going because I'm so passionate, right? So when it comes to sales, my biggest juiciest tip is like let's actually think about right now, even if you had to scrap your whole business, what would be one thing or one topic that you would just like you could create so much content, you could have like hundreds of programs because of everything that you've learned, right? Like what skills that you have all of the things, and when we can really land on that passion and start creating content, valuable content around that passion. Even if you aren't doing quote unquote, calls to actions, people are gonna start paying attention to you. And the longer that you do this, the longer you're going to build trust. And when you build trust, people are going to slide into your DM saying, I want to work with you. Right, like remember back to my early years when people were like, I want to work with you like how, like, what is your price for one on one, I was not doing calls to action. I was completely freaked out that people wanted to pay me $25 an hour to just hear me talk, right like give them advice like talk through things with them hold them accountable. I was just like, every time that that amount came into my bank account, I was like what the fuck is going on? Like, this is crazy to me, right? And so it was just so cool because I was so passionate like I was hosting retreats. I was doing videos online like maybe you've seen some of my old videos I was doing videos before Facebook Live was even a thing so I would sit in my car and record them and then wait to post them because it took so fucking long to load a video if you've ever done this, you know? But people started coming to me they were selling themselves because I was already so sold on my vision on my passion that they were like I need I need some of this like can you bottle this up? Right Like think about when you go to a concert and the artist literally is like singing their heart out. They come back out after an encore. You leave feeling so fulfilled because of the experience that They created for you, right? That's what you can do on social media, even with a teeny tiny following. Your passion will move mountains. So if you're showing up to social and you're like, I don't know what to say, or I'm only talking about my offer, it's not going to land the way a passion filled feed is going to land doesn't mean that you shouldn't do calls to actions. But like my money coach, I literally saw a few of her videos and then paid her money. Like, I just could feel her passion, I could feel her knowledge, her experience, she had something that I wanted. And so I pitched myself like literally she I did not see one post of her like hard selling, right, meaning like, bye, bye bye. It was just so much juiciness value that I was like, Oh my gosh, like this is it. Now some people do need that like direction. So please do call it calls to action. But like, your social media fill feed, fill it with all of your passion and watch the magic happen. It may not be overnight, right? I have people that are just now joining me that have known me and followed me for years, right? So you get to be in here for the long haul. But as long as you're passionate, it will literally build you a million dollar business like over time, it will build you a million dollar business.
